Rockford man indicted for sexual assault to a child

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man faces up to 240 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

Charles Jones, 36, of Rockford, was recently indicted on eight counts of criminal sexual assault of a child.

Police say on November 14, 2018, they responded to a hospital in reference to a report of sexual assault of a child.

After officers spoke to the child, Jones was developed as a suspect. In March, Jones was taken into custody in Texas and he was brought back to Illinois.

He is currently being held in the Winnebago County Jail. His next court appearance is set for June 20th at 1:30 p.m.
