WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) –Some Winnebago County Board members say they’re upset they didn’t get a report detailing issues with the county until nine months after it was completed.
“Honestly if this hadn’t come out last week, we probably still wouldn’t have heard about and wouldn’t have known it was there,” Dan Fellars, D-Winnebago County Board.
That report included some points about problems with OSHA and FMLA requirements.
Some board members say they’re worried some of the issues this report found could lead to lawsuits down the road. That’s why they say they wish they could have come up with a plan back in August about how to address those issues.
Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney says he admits to not passing that report along to the board. That’s because he says when he got it, the county was in the middle of its budget season and he wanted board members to focus on that.
“I thought it prudent to hold a little bit, but at the same time I was also under the belief, and I think correctly, that there conversations going between professional staff between the administrator on next steps,” Haney says.
Haney says the board will likely start addressing these issues in the coming weeks.
