STEPHENSON COUNTY (WREX) — A resolution was passed Thursday to name an overpass in Stephenson County in honor of fallen Illinois State Police Trooper Brooke Jones-Story.

The overpass is a part of South Springfield Road and spans Route 20 just east of Freeport.

“Trooper Jones-Story was often stationed at this overpass ensuring the safety of our roadways,” said State Rep. Andrew Chesney. “This is a fitting tribute to her memory and a reminder to us all to practice good driving safety practices, including compliance with Scott’s Law to move over for stopped emergency vehicles.”

The resolution received unanimous support in both the House and Senate.  Once the resolution is enacted into law by Gov. JB Pritzker, a naming ceremony for the overpass will be scheduled for the summer.
