Magic Waters to open under Six Flags ownership this weekend

CHERRY VALLEY (WREX) — Magic Waters will open up again for the summer season, but this time under new Six Flags ownership.

The water park opens at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Rockford Park District will no longer operate the facility. Instead, Six Flags will operate the water park for 10 years. It can add on to the park, but must have approval from the Rockford Park District before doing so. The partnership comes after the park district created a plan to close a nearly one million dollar budget shortfall.

The park includes 15 including 11 heart-pounding water slides and Illinois’ largest wave pool.

Six Flags season passes will be valid at Magic Waters this summer.
