Local police raise money for Special Olympics

ROCKFORD (WREX)- Rockford Police Officers joined police across the country to sit on rooftops of Dunkin Donuts to raise money for Special Olympics.

Rockford Police raised money at the 11th Street and Charles Street locations.

Each person that visited the store had the chance to donate to officers.

This is the 17th year Rockford Police participated in the event.

“We try to help the kids in Special Olympics and its a great time,” said Patrol Sgt. Kareem Mankarious. “We enjoy spending our time with them at events and the torch run and we enjoy it. It’s a lot of fun.”

Rockford Police raised $4,800 for Special Olympics Friday.
