ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Police say two people are arrested after a fight led to shots being fired and one person being grazed by a bullet.
Anthony Esteves-Barrera, 30, of Rockford, and a 14-year-old boy were brought into custody Wednesday night.
Police say it happened around 6:15 p.m. in the 4900 block of Alpine Park Drive.
Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they detained several people who were involved in the incident.
Authorities learned the incident started after a fight broke out between two female juveniles. After the fight broke out, two males started to shoot at each other.
During the exchange of gunfire, a 16-year-old female was grazed by a bullet and sustained superficial injuries.
Esteves-Barrera was taken into custody and charged with with aggravated unlawful use of weapons and not having a FOID card. Police say the juvenile is a known gang member and is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.
Esteves-Barrera was taken to the Winnebago County Jail and the juvenile was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
