ROCKFORD (WREX) — Some of the area’s best and brightest high school seniors gathered Wednesday for a celebration of 4 years of hard work and dedication.
It’s just such a great recognition of my hard work,” North Boone High School senior Jessalyn Wilson said. “I’ve always put school above a lot of other things while being super busy so it’s just really rewarding to feel like all of my hard work really paid off.”
It was the 35th annual Top of Your Class celebration at Klehm Arboretum Wednesday as valedictorians from across the area came together to be honored for finishing at the top of their graduating class.
13 WREX spoke with a couple students who shared messages of encouragement for those who follow in their footsteps.
“Stick to it. If you’re doing well in school, that’s great, but if you have a few bad grades, that doesn’t mean you are a bad student, that you’re not smart enough,” Winnebago High School Senior Danielle Brosend said.
“It should come from your drive for school, for your inner passion,” South Beloit High School senior Duane Groves said. “Because of you just do it to be number one, it’s going to be an empty goal in the end. You wanna still have fun while you do it too.”
Congratulations to all the students from 13 WREX!
