Firehouse Subs shop set to open first Rockford location next week

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A new sandwich shop is opening in Rockford next week.

Firehouse Subs is set to open Tuesday, May 21st at 6470 E. State St. This will be the first Firehouse Subs in Rockford and the 23rd location in the state.

The owner, Joe Fallin, has two other Firehouse Subs locations, one in Janesville and the other in Beloit.

“The first time I tried Firehouse Subs’ food, I fell in love with the high quality of the ingredients as well as the heartiness of the portions,” said Fallin. “Once I learned how the brand helps save lives through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, I knew this was the perfect franchise to bring to the Stateline area. I’m excited to expand into Rockford, where I’ve spent many weekends shopping, doing recreational activities and visiting family.”

Founded by former firefighting brothers, the Rockford restaurant décor reflects the founding family’s decades of fire and police service with gear and photos donated by the Rockford Fire Department.

It boasts a custom, hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, designed with the assistance of the Rockford Fire Department. It showcases the newly revitalized Main Street District with a recreation of an actual photo of local firefighters jumping rope with local kids, represented in the mural by Fallin’s two sons.

The shop will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday.
