ROCKFORD (WREX) — As you drive down West State Street, or in the area of Keith Creek, you’ll notice the empty lots blend together.  But what you may not notice, are the empty lots sprinkled throughout the city.

The city owns more than 400 vacant parcels of land in city limits.

The Community and Economic Development Department owns more than 80. Director Karl Franzen says they are actively trying to get those properties back onto the tax roll and into the hands of landowners.
