OREGON – Winnebago’s girls track and field team won a Sectional championship at Oregon last week, and the Lady Indians will send several athletes to state this week.

That group includes distance runner Natalia Martino, who won the 3,200M Sectional title for a 2nd straight season, and also qualified in the mile run. She’s excited to head back to state with a whole bunch of her teammates this year.

“We are very close,” Martino, a sophomore, said. “It’s so exciting to see all these girls doing really well and qualifying for all these events. It will be a great experience at state this year and years to come.”

The 1-A prelims are scheduled for Thursday on the track at Eastern Illinois University, with the finals for all three classes set for Saturday.
