LOVES PARK – Rockford Lutheran head soccer coach Scott Lofgren guided his team to a 3rd straight Regional championship and a spot in Sectionals this week. He says this is his final season coaching the Lady Crusaders and that this group has been an amazing way to close out his coaching career.

“It’s beyond words what I think of my seniors,” Lofgren said after coaching his team to a Regional title. “Many of these girls I’ve had since third grade through our rec league.”

Lofgren has guided Lutheran to four state appearances, including a state championship in 2007. He says this team has its own unique qualities.

“With this being my final season, this is special,” Lofgren said. “Every coach goes through drama through their career with their teams. There’s been absolutely no drama. These girls love each other and believe in each other and it’s made this season that much more special.”

Lutheran takes on Oregon in the 1-A Indian Creek Sectional semifinal Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Shabonna.
