Edgerton man arrested for burglary of Odd Fellows Lodge

JANESVILLE (WREX) — A witness helps police identify a burglary suspect, leading to the arrest of an Edgerton man.

Early Sunday morning, Janesville Police arrested 38-year-old Edmund Reetz for the burglary of the Odd Fellows Lodge at 20 N. Main Street.

Police say around 6:30 in the morning, a person living in the building heard breaking glass and went outside to see a man walking down the back staircase carrying a cash register.

The person followed the suspect to a vehicle parked in a parking ramp next door, where police say the person recognized the man as a former Odd Fellows member who arrested last year for a similar burglary to the same location.

Police say the witness called Rock County Dispatch and gave officers the suspect’s name and vehicle description.

Officers later found Reetz at an address in the 900 block of Caroline and arrested him after finding the cash register in the ceiling of a home.

Police say Reetz was also wearing clothing that matched the video of the suspect inside the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Reetz was on bond for a previous burglary to Odd Fellows that happened on October 7, 2019, and is a person of interest in a theft at a home on Mitchell Street in Jaensville.
