Rockford man shot and killed early Saturday morning

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A 32-year-old Rockford man was found shot to death early Saturday morning and Rockford Police are investigating the shooting as a murder.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 4 a.m. Saturday in the 4100 block of Auburn Street.  When police arrived they found a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.  Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz says the man was rushed to Mercyhealth, but paramedics were unable to revive him.

The name of the victim has not yet been released and there is no one in custody for the shooting at this time.  Rockford Police is asking anyone who has any information about what happened to contact investigators at 815-966-2900 or leave an anonymous tip with Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-968-7867.
