ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man faces new charges after two children are hospitalized with child abuse.
Trevor Hasselmann, 22, of Rockford, now faces two counts of aggravated battery to a child after being arrested on an unrelated warrant.
Rockford Police say they responded to a hospital in reference to a child abuse investigation.
Officers say the incident happened in the 800 block of Ferguson St. Two children, both under the age of 13, sustained what police say are ‘serious, but non-life threatening’ injuries after being beaten. Police say Hasselmann is in a domestic relationship with the children’s mother.
Authorities identified Hasselmann as the suspect and was taken into custody in the 500 block of Short 3rd St. on an unrelated warrant. Police did not specify the warrant Hasselmann was wanted on.
Hasselmann is being held in the Winnebago County Jail and his bond is set at $100,000.
