LENA – Lena-Winslow’s Ian Kuehl won state championships in football and wrestling during his high school career. He’ll have the chance to continue both sports at the next level, as he signed a scholarship with McKendree University to play football and wrestle at the Division II level.

Originally, Kuehl thought he would just play football in college.

“It was actually mainly football,” Kuehl said. “Just recently I decided to give wrestling a shot because I love wrestling a lot. It’s been a passion of mine since 1st grade.”

Playing a sport in college is a big commitment. Playing two magnifies that commitment even more.

“I heard it’s a lot,” Kuehl said of doing two sports in college. “I’ll just have to be organized when school rolls around. And just basically give it all I got in both aspects.”

Kuehl earned All-State accolades in both football and wrestling during his senior year.
