Home catches fire in Belvidere Wednesday

BELVIDERE (WREX) — The Belvidere Fire Department is investigating a house fire Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials say a home in the 300 block of West Madison Street caught fire around 3 p.m.

Fire crews found a fire in the second story of the home, it caused $45,000 worth of damage.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The Belvidere Fire Department says the homeowner rents the home to tenants and came to the scene after learning the house caught fire.

No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire.

Fire crews are investigating what caused the fire.
