Winnebago County giving out trees for Earth Day

ROCKFORD (WREX)- The Winnebago County Clerk Lori Gummow and the Winnebago County Soil and Water Conservation District are giving away trees to celebrate Earth Day.

They will be giving away bare-root or shrub seedlings starting at 8 a.m Monday.

Anyone who gets a birth certificate, applies for a marriage license or receives a death certificate will get one.

Trees available include White Pine, Blue Spruce, Red Oak, Red Bud, Gray Dogwood and Meadowsweet Spirea.

“Planting a tree is a great way to celebrate Earth Day,” said County Clerk Lori Gummow in a press release. “It’s also a great way for you to honor your loved ones while caring about the environment and replanting our community’s forests.”
