STILLMAN VALLEY (WREX) – On Saturday, the public got the chance to go back to camp.
Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois held a Summer Camp Open House at Camp McCormick. The event gave interested and potential Girl Scouts and their families an opportunity to learn more about which summer camp session would be a good fit for them. There were also other activities and tours of the camp’s new and improved facilities.
“So one of the things that I think is really think is very important for people to leave the open house knowing is all the opportunities that we have for the girls at summer camp,” said Shannon Range, who is the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Outdoor Program Manager. “There are so many things that we can offer from leadership skills to outdoor skills such as navigation, knot tying, how to cook in the outdoors.”
Camp McCormick was established in 1940. For more information on the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois’ summer camps, click here.
