ROCKFORD (WREX)- Rockford Police District One Community Service Officers partnered with YouthBuild Rockford to clean up the 3200 block of Sablewood Drive.

Rockford Police say 25 YouthBuild students worked with officers to remove trash from the neighborhood Friday morning.

“We just want to show everyone in this neighborhood that we don’t just come in and handle the violent incidents and then leave,” said Asst. Dep Chief Andre Brass. “We are part of this community. We want to make sure they know we are just as much a part of their neighborhood as they are. We want to show them that we’re here to help them make this neighborhood thrive.”

Rockford Police are also hosting a Cops to You event on April 22 in the Sablewood neighborhood.
