The IHSA All-State Academic team is one of the more prestigious honors a high school student-athlete can receive, and a few athletes from the area earned the honor.

Hononegah’s Alicia Repka, Rockford Christian’s Cal Granite and Stillman Valley’s Luke Robert all made the team. Boylan’s Libbie Frost and Oregon’s Austin Strite were named honorable mention.

Every IHSA member school was invited to nominate one female student and one male student by the February deadline. Nominees needed to possess a minimum 3.50 grade point average on 4.0 scale after their 7th semester, have participated in at least two IHSA sponsored sports or activities during each of the last two years and demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

The selection committee evaluated the nominations, and the top 13 boys and top 13 girls were chosen for the team. They’ll be honored at a banquet in Bloomington Monday.
