JANESVILLE (WREX) — Janesville Police arrested a man for a felony probation violation after allegedly finding him with the help of a drone.

Ryan C. Weaver, 30, was taken into custody Monday night after he was allegedly spotted by Janesville police with a drone capable of detecting heat signatures, according to a news advisory from the Janesville Police Department.

Police arrived at 303 S. Ringold St. to talk to Weaver about a retail theft incident. But Weaver allegedly left the house through a backdoor and officers set up a perimeter around the area and deployed the drone, police said.

“The [drone] picked up an unusual heat signature between a nearby house and shed,” police said. “Officers responded to the location and found Weaver hiding.”

Weaver was arrested for the probation violation and booked at the Rock County Jail, police said. Weaver is on probation for delivery of narcotics
