Rock River Valley YMCA aims to raise $1.3M

ROCKFORD (WREX)- The YMCA of the Rock River Valley hosted its annual campaign kickoff at the Nordlof Center today, aiming to raise $1.3 million.

So far, the YMCA has raised more than $650,000.

Money raised will go to helping communities reach their full potential. It will go to the areas of youth development, healthy living, social responsibilities, education, career readiness, hunger and healthy aging.

The Y has given almost $900,000 to scholarships and subsidies so people can have access to the YMCA.

The YMCA also has a new commercial series called “One Number,” which focuses on unequal income distribution.
