ROCKFORD (WREX) – Baseball season is just getting started, and here in Rockford, women baseball players  are proving you can still look good  and play well.

“Women players in the 1940s and 50s, they had to wear makeup at all times,” Sales and Marketing Representative Christine Haeggquist said.

The International Women’s Baseball Center celebrated it’s own opening day on Sunday at the Crimson Ridge Shopping Center with a new expanded athletic cosmetic line.

All of the money goes toward helping build a new International Women’s Baseball museum right across from Beyer Stadium, where the Rockford Peaches once played. So, of course, two of the original Rockford Peaches came out the the opening to help stir up excitement and sign some autographs.

“It’s just nice see people coming that are young that know about the Peaches now, and it just kind of gives you a real thrill,” said Clara Hellmann, a Rockford Peaches Bat Girl.

The makeup line includes foundation, lip sticks and nail polishes.
