FORRESTON – Forreston-Polo track & field senior Brady Webb is our newest 13 WREX Athlete of the Week.
Webb attends Polo, and helped lead the Marcos to their first boys basketball regional championship in a decade this winter. Now he transitions to spring track & field, where he specializes in long jump and relays for the NUIC co-op.
“I went down for four events for state,” said Webb, recalling his seventh grade track experience that has catapulted him to high school success. “I placed second in the long jump. I realized this was my thing.”
Webb has been instrumental in developing the co-op’s chemistry, bringing two small towns together to succeed in the spring.
“There’s brotherhoods I’ve made in track I don’t think I’ve made before individually,” Webb says. “That’s what’s helped us get third place in state and be successful in track.”
Webb has qualified for IHSA’s state series in each of his last two seasons. After tasting basketball history, he’s hungry for more.
“You take extra pride in realizing this is your year, your last season as a group, and you’ll never do that again.”
