Rockford teacher earns state recognition

ROCKFORD (WREX) – A Rockford teacher earns state recognition.

Whitney Reed, a 2nd grade teacher at Welsh Elementary School, is receiving the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE) Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award. Officials say Reed, who graduated from Rockford University in 2017, is getting the award for her accomplishments and her dedication to both students and the profession.

“Well it’s definitely an honor,” said Reed. “I know there’s a lot of beginning teachers in the state of Illinois. So to be one of the ones who got chosen kind of means a lot.”

Reed is invited to attend the IACTE/ IATEPC Spring Joint Conference and Award ceremony on April 9 in Springfield.
