Rockford man wanted for sexually abusing a child arrested in Texas

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man who was wanted for sexually abusing a child has been arrested in Texas.

Charles Jones, 36, of Rockford, was taken into custody in Harris County, Texas on Thursday.

Rockford Police say in November of 2018, the police department received a report of an alleged sexual assault of a child who was under the age of 13. Police say the incident happened in the 2900 block of Chatham Lane. Officers also say the victim was a family member of Jones.

Jones faces multiple charges, including two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Jones is awaiting extradition to Winnebago County.
