PEORIA (WREX) — The East E-Rabs journey for a state title is over.
The E-Rabs lost to the Evanston Wildkits in the 4A semifinal Friday at Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center.
Evanston won 94-82, The E-Rabs fall to 34-3 on the year.
The E-Rabs will play in the third-place game at 5:30 p.m. in Peoria.
Evanson got a big push ahead in the first half, leading East 48-29. But the E-Rabs showed the ability to come back from a deficit against Geneva in the super-sectional. Coach Roy Sackmaster said Evanson is a team that’s very similar to the E-Rabs’ athletically and in style of play.
This is the first trip to state for the E-Rabs boys basketball team in 41 years.
4-A FINAL FOUR, FINAL:
Evanston defeats East, 94-82. Burnell 26 points, Clanton 20 points.
The E-Rabs fall to 34-3 on the year and play in Saturday’s 3rd place game at 5:30pm in Peoria.
