ROCKFORD (WREX) — Before Rockford’s East High School boys basketball team continues its quest for a state championship, the E-Rabs got a big farewell from its supporters.
On Thursday, East High School hosted a sendoff for the team in the main gymnasium. The event included an introduction of the team before students lined the halls to cheer the team as they left the school.
“What I think that is so amazing about this team is how they have demonstrated everything that we want in our kids, in our community and they just show everyone that they can do whatever they want,” said East Principal Peter Verona.
The team then left for Peoria with a police and fire escort.
East takes on Evanston in the 4A semifinal Friday at 5:30. 13 Sports will have coverage of that game.
