McHENRY COUNTY (WREX) — An emotional funeral and procession for Deputy Jacob Keltner was held Wednesday morning in McHenry County.
Deputy Kelter was killed in the line of duty in Rockford last Thursday while he was working on behalf of the U.S. Marshals serving a warrant to a known fugitive.
On Wednesday, his family, friends and brothers and sisters in blue gathered to show their support.
Sgt. Anthony Penna and Deputy Michael Urgo spoke during the funeral, along with McHenry County Sheriff Bill Primm.
The three spoke in front of an audience with hundreds of police officers and family members, as well as Deputy Keltner’s wife and two young songs. His brothers in blue called him a courageous officer, but an even better man.
They called him a man who had a hard outer shell, but a loving heart for his family. The law enforcement officers promised they would take care of Deputy Keltner’s family.
