Rockford man arrested on drug charges

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Police arrest a man after finding cocaine in his home while executing a search warrant.

Robert Young, 40, of Rockford, was taken into custody on Monday after officers searched his home.

Police say they received complaints regarding suspicious drug activity in the 400 block of N. Hinkely Ave. in the past few weeks. Officers identified 421 N. Hinkley Ave. as the location of possible drug dealing and obtained a search warrant.

Rockford Police say officers recovered more than 25 grams of crack cocaine, money, and other items. Officers also located a significant amount of raw sewage in the basement of the home. City of Rockford building inspectors were called to the residence, and it was condemned for numerous violations.

Young was taken into custody and is being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
