Polish Deli owner arrested on drug charges

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man is in custody and a business is condemned after a drug investigation.

Arkadiusz Podczaski, 29, of Rockford, was taken into custody on Monday. Police say they received a number of complaints of drug sales at the Polish Deli on Charles St. Officials say drugs were being sold to customers and to students at nearby schools.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Polish Deli on Monday. During the search warrant, Arkadiusz Podczaski, attempted to escape, but was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities discovered marijuana inside the restaurant and at least one scale to measure the marijuana.

Rockford City building inspectors and health department personnel inspected the property, and the deli was condemned for building code and health code violations.

Posczaski is being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
