Brave the Shave event helps South Beloit school worker battling cancer

SOUTH BELOIT (WREX)- A group of teachers are shaving their heads for a good cause.

South Beloit High School hosted “Brave the Shave.” Teachers went under the clippers to raise money for Melissa Stucky. She’s a speech pathologist at the school who’s also battling breast cancer.

Students donated money for the chance to shave their teacher’s head.

“The support we have received not only from students and staff but through the whole community in South Beloit has just been overwhelming through this whole journey,” said Stucky.

Students raised more than $800 to help Stucky pay her bills while she’s off work on medical leave.
