ROCKFORD (WREX) – You can check out the latest car models without having to make the drive all the way out to Chicago.
The Annual Rockford Auto Show begins Tuesday, February 12 at the CherryVale Mall. Over 130 new cars, trucks, SUVs and vans will be featured at the event.
The CherryVale Mall is also partnering with the Rockford New Car Dealers Association to donate $10,000 to a local charity.
The charity will be selected based upon the community’s input during the entirety of the car show. Shoppers can nominate a charity by completing an entry form located at participating dealer displays at the CherryVale Mall during the Auto Show, at the mall office, and at any new car dealership in Rockford. Entry forms must be completed and submitted to any of the new car dealer displays at CherryVale by 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 17.
The winning charity is selected by an independent panel of judges which considers how the money will be used, how many people will benefit, and the overall need for the funds.
This year marks the 24th consecutive year of the Auto Show’s charitable donation and brings the total contribution of the event to $240,000. Previous beneficiaries include Gigi’s Playhouse, Rock House Kids, Lifescape Community Services, Inc., Remedies, Rockford Rescue Mission, The Haven Network, Careers, Etc., and Carrie Lynn Children’s Center.
The show runs from Tuesday, Feb. 12 though Sunday, Feb. 17.
