DIXON (WREX) — Four people are in custody after the Dixon Police Department says they robbed a U.S. Cellular store.
It happened around 5:55 p.m. Monday at the US Cellular located at 166 Keuk Road. Police say two suspects showed a handgun and ordered employees to the back room. Employees were tied up and the suspects stole numerous items and cash. Nobody was physically hurt during the incident.
An eyewitness was able to provide a description and registration of a car used in the armed robbery. With that information, Illinois State Police were able to find the car travelling eastbound on Interstate 88 near Aurora. The driver of that vehicle attempted to speed off during the traffic stop, but eventually crashed in to three other cars after sliding on slick road conditions.
