(WREX) — In advance of Monday night’s winter storm, multiple municipalities are declaring a snow emergency.

ROCKFORD: As of 9 p.m. on February 11, 2019, the City of Rockford has declared a snow emergency and the odd/even parking ordinance is in effect. This snow emergency will be in effect until the Public Works Department deems it no longer necessary.

BELVIDERE: Snow emergency until further notice.

BELOIT: The snow emergency will go in to effect at 10 p.m. Monday until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

CHERRY VALLEY: Will go into effect at 3 p.m. on Monday and winter weather parking ordinances will be in effect.

FREEPORT: It will take effect starting at 6 p.m. Monday and will be in effect until Tuesday, February 12 at midnight.

The odd/even parking ordinance will be in effect during the snow emergency and will go into place at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Streets that have designated parking on one side only for an entire city block, shall be exempt.

City residents are further advised that sidewalks abutting their property must be cleaned of snow
within 24 hours of the storm’s end and that it’s a violation of City ordinance to plow or otherwise
dispose of snow from their property onto City streets and sidewalks.

Residents are also encouraged to clear snow from around fire hydrants located near their houses.
