Rockford Police respond to multiple home invasions, arrest one suspect

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Police say they responded to multiple home invasions this weekend, including making one arrest.

The first home invasion happened on Saturday, February 9th around 6 p.m. Police say the suspect forced his way into a woman’s apartment at the 500 block N. 3rd St. Officers say when the suspect kicked the door in, it hit the woman, who then fell down some stairs. The woman’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police say the suspect took the T.V. from the residence, but he dropped it due to the icy conditions. The suspect then left the scene. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers or Rockford Police.

The second home invasion happened on Sunday, around 4:30 in the morning at the 1200 block of Jackson St. Officers say the suspect forced his way into a bedroom where a man and woman were sleeping. The suspect started to hit the man and threatened the woman with multiple knives.

The suspect was still on scene when officers arrived and he was taken into custody.

Alfunzo Curtis, 33, of Rockford, is in custody and faces multiple charges.

Curtis is being held in the Winnebago County Jail.

Police did not say if the two home invasions are connected, but in each incident, the victims knew the suspect.
