ROCKFORD (WREX) – On Monday, members of the Rockford Park District got to bring up their concerns and needs directly to local lawmakers.

A legislative cafe was held between lawmakers and the park district. The meeting covered many different topics such as revenue, support from lawmakers from their capital grant program as well as support for their museum infrastructure.

“We heard a number of concerns today in minimum wage, obviously a lot of grants and moneys that have not been spent by the state that would help out local museums in the park district because of our budget problems the past few years,” said Sen. Steve Stadelman.

“This is critical right now because we’re at a point right now at our park district where we’re really taking a deep dive into our priorities,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Jay Sandine.

Due to cost increases, the park district says it is going to need help from citizens in terms of volunteering, donors, sponsors and with involvement with the park district.
