Hononegah’s girls basketball team got even with Boylan after losing to the Lady Titans earlier this year – the Lady Indians used a big second half surge in a 73-48 victory to hand Boylan its first conference loss of the season.
That forces a regular season tie atop the NIC-10 standings as both teams finish the year 16-1 in conference play. Hononegah and Boylan split the regular season series, and as they occupy opposite sides of their 4-A sectional, there could be a third meeting if they both advance to the sectional final in a few weeks.
The conference’s all-time leading scorer Jordan King finished with 20 points to pace the Lady Indians.
The game was marred by a scary scene at the end of the first half when senior Frankie Schiro was tripped going for a loose ball at midcourt, and landed head first on the floor. EMT’s were called to the Hononegah gym to take Schiro off on a stretcher. Her condition at the time of publication is unknown, and any updates will be posted on our website as they become available.
