Rockford man arrested for pointing laser at an airplane

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A Rockford man has been charged for pointing the beam of a laser at a plane last year.

Brenton Wells, 45, of Rockford, was indicted on February 5th of this year.

Authorities say Wells used the beam of a laser and pointed it at a plane and the plane’s flight path on December 6th of 2018.

The charge carries a maximum potential penalty of up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up
to $250,000.

Wells will appear for arraignment on Friday in federal court in Rockford
