ATLANTA – Rockford native Fred VanVleet scored a career-high 30 points as the short-handed Toronto Raptors beat the Atlanta Hawks, 119-101. The Raptors dressed just nine players due to the team trading Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright and C.J. Miles to Memphis in exchange for Marc Gasol earlier in the day.
The shortened lineup meant VanVleet was back in the starting lineup, and he took advantage of his 37 minutes on the court. The former Auburn High School star shot 11-22 from the field, including 4-11 from outside the arc. VanVleet added six assists and five rebounds in the win.
Pascal Siakim also posted a career-high with 33 points for the Raptors. Toronto is now 40-16 overall this season.
