Rockford Police officers interact with community members at Cops to You event

ROCKFORD (WREX) – Wednesday night was the first opportunity people had to grab a bite to eat with members of the Rockford Police Department as part of a new program.

The first Cops to You event was held at the Beef-A-Roo on Auburn Street. Officers were at the restaurant to meet and interact with members of the community.

“We came out tonight to build relationships with people, talk to them on a human level, and just get to know them, find out what’s going on in their neighborhoods, talk to them about what their needs are and just be good neighbors,” said Rockford Police Assistant Deputy Chief Andre Brass.

Brass says the next Cops to You event will take place sometime in March.
