BYRON – Byron senior basketball player Tony Eddy is our WREX Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Rock Valley College.
Eddy is averaging about 22 points per game for the Tigers, who are riding a ten game winning streak. Eddy broke his wrist playing baseball his sophomore year and worked last year to get back his shooting touch. Now he’s one of the most feared shooters in the Big Northern Conference.
“When I get hot, all my teammates do a really good job of getting me the ball and I shoot it well,” Eddy said.
Point guard Tanner Klein appreciates what Eddy brings to the court.
“It’s a point guard’s dream for sure,” Klein said. “We have a great bond together.”
That bond is something the Tigers team shares up and down the roster. Many of them have played together since they were younger, and the seniors hope to finish strong this season.
“We want to keep winning,” Eddy said. “We want to keep the win streak going and we want to go far in the postseason. We all have the same goal and that’s to make it far.”
Byron has a busy schedule of games, with six in the next eight days due to all the recent postponements.
