Rockford man arrested after police say he fired a weapon at a home

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Rockford Police arrest a man who they say fired his weapon at a home.

Ernesto Sanchez, 23, of Rockford, was taken into custody after police say he fired several shots at the 1100 block of North Sunset Avenue on Monday.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke to other residents of the home who said Sanchez was still inside.

Police say Sanchez surrendered peacefully after a several hour long stand-off.

No injuries were reported.

Sanchez faces charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and not having a FOID card. Sanchez is being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
