FHN Memorial Hospital enforces visitor restrictions amid widespread flu in Illinois

FREEPORT (WREX) — FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport is restricting visitors amid widespread flu in the state.

FHN says the restrictions are for the well-being and safety of patients and staff. They include:

— No visitors under the age of 18 (including the OB unit)
— Only two visitors per patient at one time
— Visitors with fever, cough or sore throat should NOT visit. If they must, masks are required
— Patients hospitalized for flu may have visitors only when necessary for emotional well-being or care
— Respirator hygiene and cough etiquette must be followed at all times

These restrictions apply to all hospital patients, including OB and pediatrics.

The Illinois Department of Public Health released a report saying the state is experiencing a flu outbreak.
