CHICAGO (WREX)- Chicago police rescue a man after he went into Lake Michigan to save his dog.

Police say the man’s 9 month old dog fell into the lake. the owner was able to rescue his dog, but couldn’t get out of the water. An officer threw a dog leash to the man and then five other officers anchored themselves on the ice to form a human chain. The man was rescued and was treated at the hospital before he was released.

Temperatures have gotten so cold in Chicago, that fire is needed in order to keep the train tracks warm. This is being done to prevent freezing on the tracks.

Also, the Chicago River has chunks of ice that covers a lot of the river. There is also ice surrounding Navy Pier and there is also ice near the Shedd Aquarium.
