ROCK COUNTY (WREX) — A 20-year-old Janesville man has died after a car crash early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 6:45 a.m.

An investigation shows a 2003 Dodge Neon driven by the 20-year-old Janesville man was traveling
southbound on North U.S. Highway 51 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the snow covered and slippery road while beginning to crest a hill. The Neon slid into the northbound lane and was struck broadside by a northbound 2013 Ford F-150 driven by a 45-year-old Janesville man. Both vehicles came to rest in the
roadway blocking both lanes of traffic.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other person injured was treated for a minor knee injury and released.

Poor winter road conditions were a contributing factor in the crash. Highway 51 was closed for nearly 3 hours as a result and reopened at 9:30 a.m. No arrests or citations are anticipated at this time.
