ROCKFORD (WREX) — Alpine Hills in Rockford is taking advantage of the possibility of incoming snow in the Rockford area.

The snow park at Alpine Hills opened Friday after making its own snow again. The 5-acre snow park includes tubing and terrain park sections for riders of all abilities.

The park has struggled to stay open due to the warm weather and lack of lack of snow.

“The seasons that we have, like right now where you have 50s and pouring rain, it kind of just takes us back,” Snow Park at Alpine Hills Maintenance Supervisor Kyle Zimmerman said. “We’re always at the base of our operation, the bare minimums that we like to have it open with.”

The park is open this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
