ROCKFORD (WREX)- People on the Southwest side of Rockford no longer have to travel far for healthcare.

SwedishAmerican opened a brand new clinic called Riverwest at 815 Marchesano Drive.

Three full-time providers will provide a range of family and women’s health services.

“Pregnancy care and really all women’s healthcare throughout life, as well as full spectrum family medicine, babies, kids, women, adults preventative and primary care,” said Dr. Corrine Maund, an Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician.

Before the new clinic opened, third graders from Barbour School got to tour the facility. Physicians gave them tours and talked to students about the healthcare field. Several staff members at Riverwest are bi-lingual, which helped them communicate with students at the bi-lingual Barbour School.

“We felt that reaching out to Barbour School, or in the community here, bringing them in to bhe the first ones to actually see our clinic, it is really important to us that our community is involved in this clinic,” said Angelica Aranda, Riverwest Clinic Manager.

Riverwest has an open house Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. It will be open for patients Monday morning.
