Jaimie Cox Memorial Fund announces 2nd annual walk/run

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The Jaimie Cox Memorial Fund will host its second annual walk and run at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 in Roscoe.

Registration is now open for the race that will honor the life of fallen Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox.

For the second year in a row, Roscoe and surrounding communities will raise money in remembrance of Cox. The 2018 event drew in nearly 800 participants who completed the 5K. This year’s event will offer a 5K and a 2-mile walk option.

The cost to participate is $30. All proceeds will benefit the Jaimie Cox Memorial Fund.

“We were blown away by the support we received from the community and our sponsors last year,” said Adam Cox, event organizer and Jaimie’s cousin. “We received very positive feedback and believe that we will have an even larger number of participants in 2019. Our cause is one that people are proud to support and because of that support, Jaimie continues to touch many lives in the Rockford region and across the state.”

The Jaimie Cox Memorial Fund recently donated $1,000.00 to Rock House Kids and the Veterans Drop-In Center of Rockford.
