ROCKTON/ROCKFORD – Hononegah’s girls came out strong against second place Belvidere North, beating the Blue Thunder, 63-37, to stay in a tie for first place in the NIC-10, while handing North its second conference loss of the season.

Cali Schmitz scored 17 points for the Lady Indians, while Jordan King added 15 while sitting out much of the second quarter in foul trouble. King is closing in on the NIC-10 all-time scoring record.

Belvidere North closed the gap to 12 points at halftime after Natalie Horgan blocked a shot, then beat the buzzer with a layup. But Hononegah pulled away with a big second half to remain perfect in conference play. Hononegah takes on undefeated Boylan Thursday night for the inside track at a conference title.

In Rockford, Guilford got a pair of late free throws from Kate Dennis, lifting the Lady Vikings to a 47-45 win over East in a tight back and forth game. Dennis led Guilford with 15 points in the win.
